An independent thinker must be able to think "outside the box." In other words, can you think beyond what you hear from your leaders, (be they political, religious, or others)? Can you question what they say, and think for yourself? Can you listen to views from those with whom you disagree in order to determine if you might learn something? Can you vote for a candidate according to his/her views regardless of party affiliation? If you can honestly answer yes to all of the above, then you are an honorary member of the independent, patriotic citizens who seek ways to preserve our great nation and the principles of freedom upon which it was created. The following principles (shown in the Quoter below) are offered to help voters choose those candidates whose views appear to favor freedom. They are also offered to those who are members of, or considering the formation of an Independent Party. These principles would also apply to those candidates who are bold enough to balance their need to appease their party leaders with pressing for reforms through the art of friendly persuasion.
